Some of our survey respondents gave their views on ‘What advice would you give a peer contemplating investment in video conferencing capabilities?’
Get some experience in this area before you go out and invest heavily – either cost or being locked into someone's proprietary offering. Buy something cheap and cheerful today and start building out you community of collaborators – the community is key to your return, having a simple business problem is also key as the solutions are still immature, and like anyone who adopts innovative technology to address your business problems. To simplify your initial foray into video conferencing there are some hosted service experience, where the cost of entry is low, its easy for others to join and you can terminate your involvement whenever you choose should it not be for you.
