Dell’Ore Reports Huawei Gaining in Wireless Infrastructure

delloro_infrastructure_chart

delloro_infrastructure_chartThe wireless telecom infrastructure markets around the world are big, complex and growing, except during this recession. Ericsson has had a dominant position for many years as the leading supplier to most GSM service providers including AT&T and T-Mobile in the USA and Rogers in Canada.

Interesting in this recent report from Dell’Oro is that Huawei the price leading Chinese manufacturer with ties to the Red Army has gained share to position itself in third after Ericsson and Nokia-Siemens Networks. NSN was formed in 2007 as the joint venture between the telecom divisions of Siemens and Nokia.

Huawei has been a major beneficiary of continued Chinese carrier investments in 3G networks in China while carriers and the vendors that serve them in other markets have slowed their investments. NSN, Alcatel-Lucent and Nortel all reported declines in the 1Q09.
