…smartphones, IP PBX telephony services and dual mode phone services…
My boss, Dave Hattey presented at VON, in Boston a few weeks ago. He summarized the challenges in enterprise mobility and delivered a compelling case for the mobile VoIP service for dual mode devices and advanced enterprise capabilities for Instant Messaging, presence and call control.
Referring often to his own experience at Barcelona Spain, and life in the commuting lanes of various mid-western and Canadian airports, Dave flagged the reliability and practicality of the services possible with FirstHand Technologies' offerings for smartphones and dual mode devices. Using a simple client-server architecture drawing, Dave showed how services are required to work with a wide variety of devices and IP PBX infrastructures.
The critical enablers of these capabilities are the emergence of SIP as the protocol of choice for application developers, IP PBX manufacturers and telecos; the widespread availability of WiFi networks; and the accelerating power and dropping prices of the leading devices (being a hybrid of capabilities for PIM/PDA/phone/MP3/Video/email services).
