Mobile UC News Roundup – September 13-18, 2010

Here are a few important events this past week of September 13-17:

  • Microsoft reveals that Windows Mobile 7 will initially be deployed only on GSM devices, leaving Android unopposed on the Sprint and VerizonWireless networks.
  • RIM announces second quarter 2010 results, with greater than expected shipments and profits, but fewer subscribers than anticipated. The troubles with strong security in India, UAE and Pakistan are blamed for spooking customers in those markets. RIM forecasts greater growth due to strong results from new touchscreen device and OS which was shipping only in the last 2 weeks of the quarter.
  • Nokia replaces their CEO with a former Microsoft executive, hoping to address their weak position in North America.
