60 Frames per Second Really Matter

According to Polycom, Fox News Network uses 60 fps as their standard ‘broadcast’ quality interview transmission. Over sampling of visual information, like over-sampling in audio systems creates a better visual presentation, even for the classic ‘talking heads’ of typical business communications. Users perceive a more realistic eye, head, hand and mouth movement since it more closely represents the actual analog motion than a digital approximation leaving our brains to connect the pixels in a real-time stream.

60 fps improves the users’ confidence in communication and reduces the over-speak, delayed and stifled interactions of visually weak transmissions.

This will become a new standard for performance measurement as the Fall 2008 lineup of new products are announced.
