I came across this cool new tool called FEEDJIT which uses javascript to track where visitors' IP addresses are (in terms of cities of 1000 people or more) located gegraphically, where they came from and what page they're on. It publishes in real time so that you see your own entry (usually at the top of the listing). This is really neat. I can watch it for hours….
… don't worry about your privacy though. Websites have been able to capture IP address, browser versions, referrer URLs and the page you want for years. It's a standard part of the http dialog that happens before webpage gets downloaded to your PC.
I've installed it on the left hand navigation window (hopefully encouraging visitors to scroll down the page).
